Requested Information:

If you’ve read some of the obituaries or biographies on the SGS website you will notice that we include the subject’s ancestral line – if we know it. Here is an example. Chris sent this obituary:

Edward was proud to have retired from BF Goodrich after many wonderful years of hard work. He whole heartily worshiped at Harvest Bible Chapel Indy West the years he lived in Indianapolis, Ind. Survivors include his daughters, Kelly (Andrew) Filipowicz and Djuana (Glen) Blasius; sons, Monty and Chris Seeley; sister, Dee (Kenneth) Barber; eight grandchildren, and one great-grandson. • Seeley, Delares, dau. age 3, Edward J., son age 2, both b. NY

She also found marriage records for Edward John (and his 2nd wife) as well as for his children Kelly, Djuana and Chris and a school record for Monty. But who were Edson/Edward’s parents and does he connect to a known line?

PA Marriage Index
• Nellie D Seeley age 18, dau. of Ida B Seeley md Leon G Haughtalen 14 Jun 1930 at Susquehanna, PA
I discovered a 1936 marriage record for Leon showing he divorced his 1st wife for adultery.
You will notice that Edward John Seeley claims Dee Seeley Barber, wife of Kenneth, as his sister and she is shown that way in the 1940 census, however Nellie Seeley Thompson claims the same Dee as her daughter in the obituary above. A reasonable supposition is that Dee was raised by her uncle Earl Edson Seeley after Nellie’s first marriage fell apart
I found a 2nd marriage for Edward Seeley, son of Henry and Ida Tyler Seeley, to Shirley Stevens, age 16, dau. of Benjamin and Ida Rode Stevens on 19 Sep 11949 at Susquehanna, PA. It says his 1st wife died 21 June 1942.
I also found various records for other children of Henry and Ida which will be entered in the SGS Ancestral File.
We did have a record there for Henry, b. 1880 Sullivan County, NY, married to Ida Tyler and the son of Abner Seeley and his wife Hester J Owens. So, the line is Edward John, Earl Edson, Henry, Abner, David (SGS#2277), Abner, Abner, Joseph, John, Benjamin, Nathaniel, Robert. If you would like information on the descendants of Henry and Ida I would be happy to send it to you.
