Wilmer Lee Seely

DECATUR — Wilmer Lee Seely, 86, of Decatur, passed away Monday, January 23, 2017 in his home with his family by his side.

Wilmer was born November 12, 1930 in Dalton City, Illinois, the son of Ralph and Neva (Severe) Seely. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during Korean War. Wilmer retired from Firestone after thirty-five years of service and was a member of the American Legion in Forsyth. He married Phyllis Lamb August 27, 1955. They shared over sixty-one years together.

Wilmer leaves behind his wife Phyllis, son Steve “Gator” Seely and wife Donna of Decatur, daughter Sheri Younker and husband Tim of Decatur, grandchildren Jessica Webb and husband Brian of Florida, Jonathan Seely of Decatur, and Anna Younker of Decatur, and great-grandson Bryson Webb of Florida.

Wilmer was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law Harold and Jessie Lamb, brother Dean Seely, infant sister, infant twin siblings, and nephew Josh Lamb.

Services to celebrate Wilmer’s life will be 1:00 PM Thursday, January 26, 2017 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Chaplain Jan Dial officiating. Burial with military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard will follow in Boiling Springs Cemetery.

The family of Wilmer Lee Seely is being served by the Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home, 2091 N. Oakland Ave. Decatur, IL.
