Mr William Ira Sealey, 72

William Ira Sealey, age 72, of 1114 North Cherry Grove Road, died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, in Riverside Convalescent Center, Newport News.

He was a native of Cara Gorda, N.C., and retired as a union electrician. Mr. Sealey was a member of Smithfield Church of God, a past commander of American Legion Post No. 25, Newport News, and past president of Parkview Little League. Mr. Sealey was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict, where he was awarded the Korean Medal of Valor and five Bronze Stars.

His wife, Annie Ruth Cartridge Sealey, and son, Audie D. Sealey, preceded Mr. Sealey in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Tammie S. Keen of Surry; two sons, William A. Sealey of Newport News and Arthur L. Sealey of Suffolk; three sisters, Bettie S. Williamson of Cara Gorda, N.C., Margie S. Sullivan of Chadbourn, N.C., and Shelby S. Benson of Cara Gorda, N.C.; and seven grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, at Saint Luke’s Memorial Park, Smithfield, with Dr. Donald R. Rhoton officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, at Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield.
