Willard J. “Bill” Seley

Willard J. “Bill” Seley, 88, died Tuesday morning Aug. 3, 2010 at Huron Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 18, 1921 at the home of his parents, the late Arthur and Carrie (Holtz) Seley, in Sheridan Township.

Willard graduated from Elkton High School in 1939 and enlisted in the U.S. Army during W.W.II. On Jan. 1, 1942, he was united in marriage to Marjorie E. Bruce in Bad Axe. They lived and raised their family on a farm south of Elkton in Grant Township.

Bill worked at the Elkton Tile Plant for a number of years, Shetler Plumbing and retired from Active Industries in 1983, all the while he continued working his farm. He was an avid fisherman both on the water and the ice. He also enjoyed hunting all types of game.

Surviving are four children, John (Doris) Seley of Elkton, Susanne (Sal) Kanaski of Filion, Janet (Frank) Ellicot of Mayville and Carol (Ray) Caverly of Gagetown; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marjorie (Wayne) Campbell of Bad Axe and Genevieve Faupel of Saline.

Preceding him in death were two grandsons, Berry Davison and Jeffrey Seley; two sisters, Audrey Bouck and Madelyn Krause; and a brother, Leonard Seley.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6, 2010 at the Champagne Funeral Chapel in Elkton.

Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday and after 10 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Karen Bouverette will officiate with burial and military honors at Colfax Township Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to Laker FFA, Heartland Hospice or Meadow Lane Assisted Living Activity Fund.
