Walter Lomax Sealy, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 29, 2015 after a brief illness. He was born on March 17, 1936 in Sweetwater, Alabama, the youngest child of Claude and Addie Mae Sealy. Upon graduation from high school he worked briefly for the FBI in Washington, DC. He married Martha Gaddy Sealy on August 23, 1958 and shortly thereafter served in the US Army, stationed primarily in Germany. Along the way he and Martha had two children, Phyllis Bednarz (Mathew) and Phillip Sealy (Lori), and three grandchildren (Madison Bednarz, Joshua Sealy, and Elizabeth Sealy). Walter dearly loved his family, his church (he was a member of Perry Hill United Methodist Church for over 40 years), playing golf with friends, singing in the church choir, and all things Alabama (Roll Tide!). He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers (Ernest Sealy and Leonard Sealy). He is survived by his wife of 57 years, his children, their spouses, his grandchildren, a sister (Voncile Turner), along with numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday night September 1, 2015 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Leak Memory Chapel. The funeral service will be Wednesday September 2, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Perry Hill United Methodist Church, officiated by Pastor Mark Osgood. Friends and family will be received beginning at 1:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Perry Hill United Methodist Church, 910 Perry Hill Road, Montgomery, Alabama 36109.
