Thaddeus O. Seely Jr.

Thaddeus O. Seely Jr., 69, of Jerome died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 1995, at the Arthur James Cancer Clinic.

A Navy veteran of the Pacific Theater in World War II, he was a member of American Legion Post 0411 and VFW Post 10691 of Dublin.  He was a 1951 graduate of The Ohio State University and taught school in Delaware County for more than 30 years.  He retired in 1985 as athletic director and administrator at Buckeye Valley High School.  He was inducted into the Ohio High School Athletic Directors Hall of Fame in 1983 and on Friday, was named to the first class of the Buckeye Valley Hall of Fame.

He was a lifelong member of the Jerome United Methodist Church and a member of the Union County Mental Health Board and advisory committee for Meals on Wheels.  He was past president of the Union County ADAMHS Board and was a popular inspirational speaker.

He was born June 30, 1926, in Marysville to the late Taddeus and Frances Noland Seely Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nena Sylvester Seely; two sons, Chip (Jenney) Seely and Fred (Lisa) Seely; a daughter, Laurel Benefiel; five grandchildren; a sister, Martha (Lem) Birdwell of Port Neches, Texas; a niece, Deborah (Bobby) Moore; and other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Jerome United Methodist Church.  The Rev. Steve Cramer will officiate and interment will be at Jerome Township Cemetery.  Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Plain City.
