WEST COLUMBIA – Services for MSG Stephen L. “Red” Sealey, 76, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Green Hill Baptist Church conducted by the Reverend Mark Hathcox, with burial and Military Honors in Woodridge Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Green Hill Baptist Church, “General Church Fund”, and the South Carolina Heart Association. Visitation is 6-8 tonight at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington.

MSG Sealey died Thursday, February 24, 2000. Born in Green Sea, he was a son of the late John and Minnie Jernigan Sealey. Formerly of Wilmington, N.C., he had been a local resident since 1947. He was a member of Green Hill Baptist Church. MSG Sealey was a army veteran with service in World War II, and was also a prisoner of war. He was retired from the South Carolina Army National Guard with 33 years of Federal, Army, and Civil Service. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. MSG Sealey was predeceased by a brother, J. Paisley Sealey and a sister, Mary S. Martz.

Surviving are his wife, Cecile Slice Sealey; daughter and son-in-law, Diane & Wayne Barrow of Gaston; sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen L. “Steve” & Janice Sealey Jr., of West Columbia, Doug “Jim” & Pat Sealey of Chapin, Dennis & Lynn Sealey of Lexington, Donnie & Linda Sealey of Red Bank; sister, Bessie Herring of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; brother, Monroe Sealey of Bladenboro, N.C.; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
