Ruth Evelyn Seelye (1929 – 2016)
Ruth Evelyn Seelye died on November 16, 2016, in Dundee, Oregon, of a prolonged illness.
She was born to Irene Ethel (Brown) and James Miler Goin in Big Springs, Nebraska, on February 14, 1929. The family moved to Iowa and then to Port Angeles in 1937. Ruth attended Dry Creek School, then Roosevelt High School, graduating in 1946.
She was married to Hubert Harry Seelye in July 1946. They had five children. Ruth was a homemaker for 20 years and taught a children’s after-school Bible club in her home and volunteered at church, school and 4-H.
She later worked as a receptionist for chiropractors in Port Townsend for four years before entering nurse’s training. After receiving her RN, she worked mostly in hospitals in Washington and Oregon while continuing her education. She received an MBA from City University in 1983.
She is survived by her five children: Alice Wagner, Robert (Camelia), Linda (Forrest) Byerly, Paula (David) Daracunas and John (Brenda). Her grandchildren include Kim, Renee, Dawn, Nancy, Mike, Koni, Grace, Marie, Amy, Tresa, John Jr. and Amanda. Fifteen great-grandchildren also survive her as well as numerous relatives all over the country and her beloved pets.
A memorial service will be held at Dungeness Community Church on Saturday, February 4, 2016, at 1 p.m.
