Mrs Ruby Blanton Sealy, 84

YORK Mrs. Ruby Blanton Sealy, 84, began her new life, Friday, Dec. 28, 2012.

The funeral service will be at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at Central Baptist Church in York, with the Rev. Carey Caldwell officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, in the fellowship hall of Central Baptist Church, 110 Ross Cannon Street, York.

Born Oct. 6, 1928, in Cherokee County, S.C., Ruby was the daughter of the late T.O. Blanton and Jessie Morrison Blanton. She began her education at Holly Grove School in Blacksburg, S.C., and was a 1944 graduate of York High School. She was retired from the Celanese Corp.

Ruby became affectionately referred to by many as the “Cheese Ring Lady” due to her 20 year dedication to baking cheese rings in her home and selling them to support Southern Baptist Missions. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, York, S.C., where she taught Sunday School and worked in ladies missions for many years.

Ruby was married for 59 years to the late George “Dub” Sealy. She is survived by two sons, Leslie (Renee) and Steve (Debbie), both of York; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Dot Chavis of Charlotte, N.C. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Eugene Blanton, Walter Blanton and Charlie Blanton and her sister, Martha Leigh.
