Robert Wintermute Sealey

Robert Wintermute Sealey, 81, of Stratford, died Wednesday.

He was born Aug. 16, 1925 to the late Glenn and Sylvia (Piatt) Sealey. He was a simple and gentle man who loved the Lord, his family and friends. After serving his country in World War II in the U.S. Navy on the USS Wake Island, he returned to Delaware and married the love of his life, Jean Estella Smale on May 28, 1950. A lifetime resident of Stratford, he was affectionately called the “Mayor of Stratford.” He retired from Hughes-Keenan in Delaware after 38 years and was owner of Sealey’s Hobbie Haven in Delaware. He enjoyed woodworking and puttering in his shop. He loved his yard, the river, the birds and his devoted cat, Sylvia, who never left his side.

He is survived by three children, Debra (Wayne) Byus of Stratford, Steven (Mary) Sealey of Ostrander and Ginger (Dan) Williams of Stratford; three wonderful granddaughters, whom he called “his girls,” Stephanie Sealey, Lindsey Williams and Lauren Williams; and one “like a son,” Bob (Jodie) Mirfendereski and their daughter, Taylor of Powell; one brother, Richard Sealey; one brother-in-law Jay Smale; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of his life by the receiving of family and friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Robinson Funeral Home, 32 W. Winter St.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Hospice at Grady, 561 W. Central Ave., Delaware, OH 43015.
