Robert “Bob” F. Seeley

Retired US Air Force MSGT Robert “Bob” F. Seeley, 92, of Spring Lake, NC took his final drive home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, December 9, 2015.

He is preceded in death by his father, G. A. Seeley; mother, Ruth Seeley and sister, Sarah Seeley. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Isabelle Darden Seeley; son, Glenn R. Seeley of the home; daughter, Beverly S. Montgomery of Raeford, NC; and his beloved dog, Scruffy. He was a loving husband and father.

Bob was a machinist for the Virginian Railroad in Mullins, W VA until he joined the United States Army in 1943. He served in the European Theater of Operations and fought in the Battle of the Bulge, then was stationed at Fort Bragg. In 1950 he had the pleasure of driving General Lauris Norstad who was visiting Fort Bragg. General Norstad enjoyed the company of Bob so much that he had him transferred to the United States Air Force to be his full time driver. Bob drove for the General during his time at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA and followed him on to SHAPE Headquarters (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe) in Paris, France. After retiring from the Air Force in June of 1963, he became a truck driver for McLean Trucking Company in Richmond, VA and retired in 1985. He worked part time after that at Adcock Funeral Home in Spring Lake, NC until 2008. Bob was a lover of engaging conversation, people, automobiles and airplanes and held a private pilot’s license. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant in Spring Lake, NC.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 12, 2015 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Adcock Funeral Home, 2226 Lillington Highway (Hwy. 210N,) Spring Lake, NC 28390 with services following at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Adcock Funeral Home. Interment with full military honors will immediately follow at LaFayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, 118 W. Manchester Rd., Spring Lake, NC 28390.
