Richard Norman Selle

March 17, 1930 – August 25, 2016

Richard “Dick” Selle, 86, of Loveland, passed away August 25, 2016 at his home. Dick was born to Al and Ollie (Norman) Selle on March 17, 1930 in Miles City, Montana. At the age of 3, the family moved to Aberdeen, South Dakota where he attended schools. He played the saxophone in The John Cacavas Orchestra out of high school. Dick married Nancy Guhin on November 23, 1951 in Omaha, Nebraska.

Dick attended Northern University, Aberdeen for a year and then joined the U.S. Navy March 26, 1951 and was Honorably Discharged on March 17, 1955. Upon returning to Aberdeen, he completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Business at Northern University. He also worked for the Department of Defense in the finance and accounting department. Dick worked at Black Hills Storage Depot in Igloo, South Dakota, Rock Island Arsenal in Bettendorf, Iowa, Jefferson Proving Grounds in Madison, Indiana and the Federal Highway Traffic Safety Administration in Chicago Heights, Illinois. In 1982, after Dick retired, he and Nancy moved to Colorado and he returned to work, working at Rocky Flats.

His passion for life was his family. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make people laugh, even near the end of his life.

Dick is survived by his wife Nancy; three daughters Pamela Selle Bard (Richard) of Evergreen; Carolyn J. Guernsey (Jerry) of Loveland and Julie A. Gualtieri of Templeton, California; two sons Norman C. Selle (Daysi) of Edwards and Jim E. Selle (Melinda) of Greeley; 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents and a sister Patricia Miller.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Stoddard Funeral Home. Memorial Service will follow at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Stoddard Funeral Home. Celebration of Life will be Saturday, September 24, 2016 in Evergreen.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pathways Hospice or Loveland Good Samaritan Society or LAM Foundation in care of Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 W. 28th Street, Greeley, Colorado 80634.
