Last Services For Cadet Held

Student Pilot Killed In Crash Honored

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. yesterday for Cadet Richard Gordon Seeley of San Bernardino, who was killed last week at Lemoore field, 25 miles from Fresno. He was 23 and the son of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Seeley of 1073 Arrowhead avenue.

The Rev. Boyce Van Osdel, pastor of Calvary Baptist church, conducted the last rites for Cadet Seeley in the chapel, of Stephens & Bobbitt mortuary, and Mrs. Van Osdel sang “The Lord’s Prayer,” set to music by Albert Hay Malotte, and “In the Garden.” Mrs. Charles F. Kircher played the organ accompaniment.

Friends of the cadet and his family, all in the service of their country, served as pallbearers. They are Lt. Neil Ferryman, Lt. Myron Imig, Lt. Richard Henry, Sgt. Wilbur Eich, Pvt Neil Evenson and Pvt. William Rhoads.

At the graveside in Mountain View cemetery the San Bernardino Senior High school band played the “Old Rugged Cross.” Osman Ingraham, director of the band, played “Taps.”

The young flier graduated from San Bernardino High school in 1938 and previous to his enlistment in the air force, had been employed at Lockheed airplane factory near Glendale and also at March field. His father is a conductor with the Union Pacific and the family has been in San Bernardino 35 years. During the World War I, Mr. Seeley Sr., was a radio technician in the Navy.
