Funeral services for Orville Curtis Seely, 86, of Ackerly will be held Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, at 10 a.m. at North 14th Street Church of Christ in Lamesa with Pastor Mark Hackett officiating. Interment will follow in Dawson County Cemetery under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 27, 2017, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home.

Orville passed away Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, in Lubbock. He was born April 22, 1930, in Alma, Okla., to Clarence Randolph and Josie (Morrison) Seely. He married Lillie Fay Foster April 3, 1950, in Dawson County. They were married 66 years. Orville served in the United States Army and Reserves from 1954 until 1962. Headquarters: 8th Infantry Division and Fort Carson, Fort Carson, Colo. During the Korean war he was stationed with the 595th Signal Company in the Black Forest in Germany. He farmed in Martin, Howard, and Dawson counties from 1951 to 2006. He was a gin manager for Flower Grove Co-Op Gin from 1964 until 1969, where he served as a board member from 1970 until 1980, and was an advisor for over 30 years. Orville, “Grandpa” loved spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at the lake, birthday parties, and ball games. He will be missed by all.

Orville is survived by his wife, Lillie Fay Seely of Ackerly; children, Nancy Howard and husband Danny of Ackerly, and James Seely and wife Cynthia of Lubbock; grandchildren, Michelle Pepper and husband Kevin of Lamesa, and Jody Howard and wife Tana of Ackerly; and great-grandchildren, Kamryn, Kylar, and Kolby Pepper, and Cali and Cree Howard.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Naomi Stroud, Ruby Willard, and Gloria Cowan; brothers, Carl Seely and Bill Seely; and 3 infant siblings.

The family suggests memorials to Church of Christ, 702 N. 14th, St., Lamesa, Texas, 79331.
