Popular Youth Is Killed in Auto Accident

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at the Kenneth Kelly Funeral Home for Norris Seeley, age 22, or South Ripley, who was killed in an automobile accident Saturday morning at 1:30 a.m.

The well known young athlete was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Seeley.  He was returning home from bowling at Sherman with a friend, William Averill, when the car he was driving hit a boulder protruding from the roadbed and turned over four times.

Averill, in a dazed condition, walked to a nearly farmhouse of Andrew Meeter.  The Seeley boy died almost instantly.  Averill was taken to Hamot Hospital where he was reported in a satisfactory condition.

The Seeley are a well known South Ripley family.  Norris graduated from Sherman High School where he distinguished himself as an outstanding basketball player and athlete.  He was a member of the South Ripley Methodist Church and was highly respected in the community.

The Rev. E.C. Clark, of the State Line Methodist Church, officiated at the services.  Interment was in the State Line Methodist Church.

He leaves besides his parents, one sister, Mrs. Russell Mann, of Buffalo; and two brothers, Wayne of Buffalo, and Donald, of Ripley.

Pall bearers were Clyde Thorp, Ralph Thorp, Lloyd Seeley, Kenneth Perdue and Eldon Bogue.
