Norma Jean Seley, 83, of Marlette, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at Marlette Hospice Residence in Marlette, Michigan. She was born May 21, 1925 in Peck, Michigan, the daughter of the late Edwin and Ada (Duckworth) Mahaffy. She was a lifelong area resident, a 1942 graduate of Brown City High School, and earned her Bachelors of Education Degree from Michigan State University in 1946. She married John Seley on March 7, 1948 in Omard, MI. She was a member of the Marlette First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the Thumb Quilters, and held an office in the M.A.R.S.P. She taught Home Economics for 30 years teaching at Deckerville, Mayville, Kingston, and Marlette, where she retired from in 1980. She enjoyed making stuffed animals, leather crafting, quilting, flower gardening, shopping and especially spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, John; Wade and Beverly Seley (son) of Grand Rapids, Sharol and Frank Stoick (daughter) of Marlette, David Seley (son) of Marlette; Hazel Mahaffy (sister) of Peck, five grandchildren, Chad, Chris, Jill, Heidi and Jessica and two great-grandchildren, Zack and Abby. She was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette with Rev. John R. Allan officiating. Burial was in the Marlette Cemetery in Marlette. Casketbearers were Chad Stoick, Chris Stoick, Keith Agar, Gary Hood, Bill Ross, Chris Heussner.
