MT. PLEASANT, March 26. – Mrs. Mary Amelia Goldsbrough Seely, wife of Hyrum Seely, died at the family home this morning after a four weeks’ illness from gangrene poisoning. Mr. and Mrs. Seely, both come from pioneer families, who have aided and worked hard in the upbuilding of Mt. Pleasant and her death will come as a distinct shock to her many friends.
Mrs. Seely was born in Salt Lake October 21, 1853, and was married February 27, 1871, to Mr. Seely, who survives her. The venerable couple had expected to celebrate their golden wedding a month ago, but Mrs. Seely’s illness prevented anything but a very quiet observance of the day.
The following sons and daughters survive her: Mrs. Clarissa S. Gardener of Thistle, Mrs. Amelia Stalker and Mrs. Sarah Scow, both of Feld, Ida.; Hyrum E. Seely of Vernal, A.W. Seely of Ashton, Idaho; James R. Seely of Hazelton, Idaho; Mrs. Lodica Hopkins of Ogden and Orange Lyman Seely of Fountain Green. She is also survived by two brothers, H.D. Goldsbrough of Nephi and J.R. Goldsbrough of Knightsville, and four sisters, Mrs. A.S. Sperry of Nephi, Mrs. Emma R. Udall of Arizona, Mrs. Eilen F. Pyper of Salt Lake and Mrs. Sara E. Okey of Nephi.
Funeral services will be conducted by Bishop H.C. Jacobs Monday afternoon in the North ward chapel.
