Margaret “Margey” Seeley, 82 of Shawangunk, entered into rest on Sunday, October 22, 2017. The daughter of the late Stephen and Margaret (Smyth) Cassidy, she was born in Tuam, County Galway, Ireland on November 23, 1934.

Margey came to the United States on December 30, 1958 as a domestic, and afterward worked at White Castle Coffee Shop, then with NYC Housing Authority at a security job. After marrying Fred Evers and raising two sons and a daughter, she moved to Newburgh in 1991. When Fred passed away she married Joseph Seeley on October 24, 1998. On February 9, 2001 Margey was proud to become a United States citizen. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Church and a member of the Town of Newburgh Senior Citizens Club. She loved bus trips with the Town, trips around the United States, and going home to Ireland. Her family and grandchildren were her whole life, and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Joseph Seeley; her daughter, Bardiena Dean and her husband, Michael; her sons: Stephen Evers, and Martin Evers and his wife, Jodi; her brothers: Martin and Harry Cassidy of Ireland; her grandchildren, William and Christina Dean, Riley and Devin Evers, and Stephen Evers Jr.; and nieces and nephews, Dermott, Kevin, Pat, Martin, Christy, Brendan, Jerry, Dave, Bernie, Kathleen, Joseph, Barry, Rachel, Glen, Bernie, Kelly and Pauline. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Fred Evers, and her siblings, Michael, Patrick, Stephen, and Mary, all of Ireland.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, October 25 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave. Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Thursday, October 26, at Our Lady of the Lake Parish, with burial following in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh.
