Lucille Leonard Seeley

Mrs. Lucille Leonard Seeley, 87, Erwin Health Care Center, 100 Stalling Lane, Erwin, formerly of Rt. 2, Unicoi, died Friday, Oct. 11, 1996, at North Side Hospital.

She was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late J. Fred and Lilly Cox Leonard.

Mrs. Seeley retired as a registered nurse after 44 years of service.  She was one of the first Carter County health nurses, and was an organizer of the Crippled Children’s Services in East Tennessee.

Mrs. Seeley was the first treasurer of the Watauga Valley Art League.  She was an artist.

She was a member of Buffalo Valley Christian Church.

Mrs. Seeley was preceded in death by her husband, Earl O. Seeley, four brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include one son, Skip Seeley, Unicoi; one daughter, Dawn Freeland, Towson, Md.; two sisters, Marie Lenden, Philadelphia, and Gladys Laws, Johnson City; five grandchildren, Joseph Freeland, Cristy Seeley and Melena Seeley, all of Towson, and Sam Seeley and Karen Seeley, both of Unicoi; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lucille Leonard Seeley, 87, a resident of the Erwin Health Care Center, 100 Stallling Lane, Erwin, and formerly of Rt. 2, Unicoi, who died Friday, Oct. 11, 1994, will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday from the Unicoi Funeral Home chapel, Pastor David Stayton and Minister Mack Houston will officiate.  Graveside services and interment will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Rosetown Memory Gardens, Johnson City.  Active pallbearers will be Skip Seeley, Sam Seeley, Tom Leonard, Jerry Leonard, Gary Canter and Burch Freeland.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Leonard and Kevin Lenden.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Unicoi Funeral Home and other times at the residence of the son, Skip Seeley, Rt. 2, box 62, Unicoi.  Unicoi Funeral Home, Unicoi Drive, Unicoi, is in charge of the arrangements.
