Louise Seely, 91, of St. James died on Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in St. James with Reverend K. Christian Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in St. James.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 23, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James and will continue for one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.

Louise Anthonia Hansen was born on October 13, 1919 to parents John H. and Mary (Buchholz) Hansen in rural Coleridge, Nebraska. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Randolph, Nebraska. She attended District #95 North Cedar County country school and Pearl Creek middle school. She graduated from Randolph, Nebraska High School in 1937.

In 1943 she married Ernest Bryant. They had three daughters, Sandra, Nancy and Fritzi (Deloris). In October 1967 she was united in marriage to LeRoy Seely. They resided in St. James for 43 years and were fortunate to winter in Florida for 18 of those years. They traveled to several parts of the United States and also Canada and Germany. She was employed at Tony Downs for eight years and the Scherr-Tumico Plant for three years. Her strong work ethic has been passed down to her children.

Louise took pride in her ability to be active in activities she enjoyed; walking, golfing, dancing, card playing and in her later years she enjoyed word find puzzles. She enjoyed attending the local weekend fish and chicken fries. She enjoyed her grandchildren’s sport and school activities and took pride in golfing with her grandchildren, often times “out driving” them. She loved sharing her delicious cookies and pumpkin pies with her family. She was an active member of the First Lutheran Church, and VFW Auxiliary. The past year she had resided at Brandt Ridge enjoying the comforts of assisted living.

Survivors include her husband, LeRoy; daughters, Sandra (Tom) Kratz, Nancy (Gary) Hamer and Fritzi (Mark) Hagen, stepdaughter, Nancy (Steve) Ringen; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Lou (Stephen) Cosenza of Roseville, CA.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; four sisters; and great-granddaughter, Gretchen.
