LeRoy Eldon Seeley

SEELEY, LeRoy Eldon November 20, 1933 – October 23, 2017 Bachelor of Commerce, Carleton U. 1963 Certified General Accountant (CGA) 1979 AC2 (Acey Deucey) Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) – Retired 1952-1957 Captain RCAF (Retired) 1963-1980 Roy, as he liked to be called, died peacefully at the age of 83 on October 23, 2017. Roy was born in Toronto, the oldest son of Thomas Eldon Seeley of Toronto and Doris Lester of Coventry, England. Roy’s younger brother James predeceased him in 1969. Roy was raised as a son from the age of 6 by Walter E. Browne and Gladys Seeley Browne, long time residents of the Glebe on Third Avenue. After surviving 2 years of WWII bombing as a child in Coventry, England Roy came to live with the Browne’s in Ottawa and attended school at Mutchmore, Glashan and Glebe Collegiate. Roy is survived by his two sons Jason and James, and his ex-wife Edith Joan. Jason is the father of Roy’s two Granddaughters Isabella and Abigail. James is the father of Roy’s two Grandsons Alexander and Gerik. Roy was a member for over 35 years at Hylands, the military golf course near the Ottawa Airport. Roy was grateful for the many good friends he made at Hylands over the years – and the many Canadian and American friends he also made at his winter escape in Florida called Brookside Bluffs. Roy was quite proud of the 4 holes-in-one he made during his golfing days: 2 at Hylands and 2 at the Bluffs. Roy held many jobs at many locations across Canada as a member of the RCAF, but space does not allow to go into detail here. Roy’s 13 years in the Public Service in Ottawa after his military service were spent as a Financial Officer in the Public Service Commission, Solicitor General of Canada, Canadian Museum of Civilization and Fisheries and Oceans (DFO). Friends are invited to visit at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre (2500 Baseline Road) on Friday, November 3 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held in the Pinecrest Chapel on Saturday, November 4 at 10 a.m. Followed by a small reception.
