Mrs. Lena Seelye
PEKIN – Mrs. Lena Seelye, wife of John Seelye, 921 State street, died at the Pekin hospital Sunday morning. She had been in failing health for some time.
She was born in Pekin, July 5, 1874, a daughter of Adam and Eva Elizabeth Berris Scheeler. Her marriage to John Seelye took place in this city, Dec. 19, 1891. She enjoyed a wide acquaintance and was held in high esteem by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband and five children: Mrs. Lillian Abramson, New York city; John Seelye and Mrs. Elizabeth Williams, Pekin; Mrs. Catherine Denny, Peoria and Irvin Seelye, Pekin; a brother, Fred Scheeler, Peoria, a sister, Mrs. Kathryn Peterson, Sullivan, and 12 grandchildren.
The funeral was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Noels and burial was in Lakeside cemetery.
