Kermit A. SEELY

SEELY — Kermit A., died March 4, 1995 in Mercy Hospital after an extended lung illness. Born Dec. 9, 1916 in Ithaca, N.Y., came to San Diego with his parents in 1935 when his father was one of 400 men brought here by Maj. Reuben Fleet to establish Consolidated Aircraft. He was employed by Consolidated/General Dynamics/GDE for more than 40 years, retiring as an electronics engineer. Kermit was a life member of the San Diego Yacht Club where he pursued his sailing and boating hobbies. He competed in many world class races including the 1947 Trans-Pacific Race. In the 1967 America’s Cup Defender Series he was associated with the West-Coast Syndicate (12-meter Columbia). He was a member of Delta Sigma Fraternity. He is survived in San Diego by his wife of 52 years, Elinore; a son, Paul; a daughter, Martha Baker; son-in-law, Scott Baker, and two granddaughters, Melinda and Diana Baker, in Sonoma, CA, by a sister, Jane Josselyn; and relatives in Florida and New York State. Services will be private. Family suggests contributions to:
