Kenneth Stewart Sealy

Kenneth Stewart Sealy, 74, of Monessen, formerly of Brownsville, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2012, at AnnaLisa, A Touch of Home Personal Care Home, Perryopolis. He was born Aug. 28, 1937, in Brownsville, the son of George Clark and Mary Ellen “Polly” (Wardman) Sealy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Chovan and Joyce Sealy; and two brothers, Ronald and Richard Sealy. Ken was a member of the Brownsville Fire Co. No. 1 for 50 years, holding position of nozzleman, and was a member of the choir. He was a past president of the Brownsville Umpires Association and umpired for both softball and baseball. A member of WPIAL, he refereed for high school basketball, and then, for 10 years, was a referee for girls college basketball for the state of Pennsylvania. For 42 years, he was the official time keeper for California University basketball games. Ken also was a founding member of BASI, and was a member of the U.S. Army. After leaving the Army, he joined the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local 354. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Jo Louise Sealy, of Monessen; three daughters, Hilda Ann Faith and husband, Donald J., of Washington, Pa., Polly Elizabeth Buray and husband, Joe, of LaBelle, Pa., and Eliza Jane Billy and husband, Randy, of Brownsville, Pa.; stepson, Patsy James Altomari and wife, Liza, of Monessen; two brothers, Howard K. “Bear” Sealy, of Brownsville, and George Clark Sealy Jr., and wife, Louise, of Ellsworth, Maine; sister, Sandy Serven and husband, Jesse, of Latham, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Bonnie Sealy, of Brownsville; five grandchildren, Christine Carol “CC” Buray, Brianna Altomari, Alayna Altomari, Primo Altomari and Enzo Altomari; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends will be received in the NOVAK FUNERAL HOME, 515 Front St., Brownsville, Tuesday, June 5, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, June 6, 2012, until 11 a.m., the hour of service with the Rev. David Chin officiating. Brownsville Fire Co. No. 1 will honor Kenneth with services on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. in the Novak Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Parkinson Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
