Kenneth M. Seeley

Funeral services for Kenneth M. Seeley, 82, longtime Spearfish resident and businessman will be Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 11 .am. at the United Methodist Church in Spearfish.  The Rev. Harvey Sander, Father William O’Connell of Rapid City and the rev. Arthur Westwood will officiate.  Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery under the direction of Fidler Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Seeley died Sunday morning, Dec. 14 at Lookout Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient since Nov. 24.  A memorial has been established by the family.

He was born May 26, 1904, at Garden City, the son of Frank A. and Lulu Dell (Gregory) Seeley.  He grew up in the Yankton area.  On June 20, 1927, he was married at Yankton to the former Edna Ann Gemmill.  He was assistant manager of the J.C. Penney Store in Yankton and in 1930 was transferred to Spearfish where he managed the J.C. Penney Store until 1946.  After that Mr. and Mrs. Seeley owned and operated Spearfish Cleaners until 1962.  They them managed the Black Hills Passion Play Gift shop at the Amphitheater Office and Information Center through the 1978 season.  Seeley continued to work at the gift shop and center and was associated in this business up until the time of his death.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, an honorary member of the Spearfish Volunteer Fire Department, member of the Board of Directors of the Senior Citizens Center, member of Spearfish Lodge No. 18 AF&AM and was active in the Senior Citizens bowling league.

Survivors include four daughters: Mrs. James (Margaret) Allison of Spearfish, Mrs. Taylor (Ellen) Ball of Birmingham, Mich., Mrs. Joanne Fulton of Shawnee Mission, Kas., and Mrs. David (Mary) Quimby of LaMesa, Calif., 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a sister, Eleanor Stelpflug of Yankton.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Edna, Oct. 12, 1979, three brothers, four sisters and an infant granddaughter, Cynthia Louis Allison.
