Kathryn Ann Seeley

1960 – 2016

Seeley, Kathryn Ann, 55, was the author of the blog, A Rare Cancer Journey, and a life-long activist for political, environmental, and cancer survivors’ causes. Kathy died in Pittsburgh, PA on March 23, 2016 after 15 years of fighting and living with three different cancers. She will be remembered for her quick sense of humor, her fierce honesty, and her determination to survive against everyone else’s odds.

Kathy is survived by her beloved parents, Laurel (Seger) Seeley of Scottsdale, AZ and Richard J. Seeley of Phoenix, AZ; her devoted and admiring sister, Lynda Christine Seeley of Scottsdale, AZ; and her many loving aunts, cousins, and friends. Kathy was born in Elmira, NY on August 24, 1960, but spent the majority of her childhood in Scottsdale, AZ. She graduated from Arizona State University with a BS in Sociology and a MS in Justice Studies. Kathy worked as a paralegal in Phoenix and San Francisco before moving to New Jersey in 2000 to work at Lowenstein Sandler, PC – eventually becoming their Litigation Paralegal Manager and Trial Coordinator. Kathy had tremendous respect for the partners and staff at Lowenstein Sandler, and she was extremely proud of the work they accomplished together. Kathy’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Morgan at North Shore, her team of compassionate nurses and aides from Allegheny Health Network’s Home Hospice Care, Dr. Frances Forte of Englewood Hospital, and the doctors and nurses at Allegheny General Hospital and Johns Hopkins Hospital for their kindness and support. Memorial services will be held in Maplewood, NJ and in San Francisco, CA during the upcoming months. Donations in memory of Kathy can be made to the Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma Research Fund , the Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma Organization International, and the Mya Linn Terry Foundation.
