Judith (Judy) Ann Sealy, age 77, passed away peacefully at home on February 28, 2018 after a short illness with her loved ones by her side.

She was born in Decatur, Illinois on March 30, 1940 to Emmett and Dorothy (nee Goodwin) Leek. Her parents were descended from the earliest settlers of America.

Judy was an epitome of a life well lived, and she will be remembered as a smart, vital, and strong woman with a loving heart. She was a mother, grandmother, and devoted wife; married to Brian for 58 years. She loved art, books, traveling with friends and family, ballet, entertaining, theatre, living on Padre Island, bridge, and having a circle of friends in the USA, Canada, England, and Australia. An Anglophile, she loved London. During their marriage Brian and Judy lived in Australia, Nigeria, Australia and six US states; retiring to Corpus Christi in 2000.

She began her formal education in Art History at Sotheby’s, the University of London, and completed her BA and MA at the University of Colorado. She worked as an craft store owner, craft teacher, Art Historian and Museum Director of the Bakersfield Museum of Art. Starting in 1980 she co-authored a Guide to Dallas Public Art, contributions to a biography of artists, and then wrote three murder mysteries. While raising a family she collected paintings and primitive art.

She is survived by her husband, sister (Jewel Bennett), three children Leslie (Bob) Schey, Heather Lineberry, and Keith (Robynne) Sealy, and six grandchildren Jessica Conley, Penelope (James) Simons-Sealy, Megan (Patrick) Colson, Isabel Lineberry, William Simons-Sealy, and Noah Simons-Sealy. Also, two nephews Larry (Tammy) Bennett, Jeffrey (Kari) Bennett and a great niece Chelsea Bennett. She is proceeded in death by her beloved granddaughter Brianna Simons-Sealy, her mother Dorothy Altieri, and her grandmother Lula Bell Goodwin.

A Celebration of Life and Afternoon Tea will be held at 2 PM on March 17 at the Padre Island Yacht Club, 13402 Whitecap, Corpus Christi, TX 78418.

Judy strongly supported organizations that help children and facilitate adoptions. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Judy’s name to CASA of the Coastal Bend, P.O. Box 4, Corpus Christi, TX 78403.
