Joy Kathleen Seeley, 89, of Portsmouth, passed away, Sunday, March 20, 2016 at the Crystal Care Center in Portsmouth.
She was born December 4, 1926 in Louisa, KY the daughter of the late Charles Dee and Goldie Florence Curtis Ward. Joy was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Elmer Seeley, Jr. whom she married on February 16, 1946; one son, Anthony Scott Seeley; 4 brothers, Elmo, Thomas, Paul and Truman Ward; 4 sisters, Opal Keaton, Avanel Nichols, Mary Jean Fraley and Doris Flowers. Joy was a retired Psychiatric Aide for the Portsmouth Receiving Hospital and a member of the New Boston First Church of the Nazarene.
Joy is survived by 2 daughters, Donna Sharon (Russell James) Lovett of Kankakee, Ill. and Laura Gail Womack of Portsmouth; 2 sisters, Sue (Emory) Parker of Manchester and Shirley Wheeler of Minford; 4 grandchildren, Eric Lovett, Stephen (Carla) Lovett, Bryan (Rebecca) Cassidy and Amy Bianco; 5 great grandchildren, Anne Lovett, Kaelan Lovett, Harrison Bianco, Cassidy Bianco, Saffron Cassidy and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at the New Boston First Church of the Nazarene with Pastors Mike Percell and Frank Stidham officiating. Interment will be held at Siloam Cemetery in South Shore, KY. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Adkins-Brant Funeral Home in Portsmouth and one hour prior to the services on Thursday at the church.
