Joseph Seela

Joseph (Joe) Norman Seela, 87, of Las Cruces, NM, died after a brief illness on March 5, 2016. Joe was preceded in death by his wife Betty, in 2014.

After serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard the USS Jason as an Electrician Mate 3rd Class and receiving the Victory Medal, Joe was honorably discharged in 1947. After successfully completing required application tests, Joe was employed with the Los Angeles Police Dept in 1951. Joe and Betty met while they were both working for the police department and married in Los Angeles in 1953. Joe’s pet name for his wife was “Betts” and he always referred to her as his “salty gal”. They had no children but leave behind many friends, good neighbors and extended family all around the U.S.

Joe and Betty retired in good standing from the LAPD, and eventually moved to Las Cruces where they built their retirement home in 1993 overlooking a beautiful golf course. Joe and Betty adopted several dogs over the years from Rescue shelters and his four-legged friends were never far from Joe’s side after Betty died. Joe’s family and friends are very grateful for the loving care he received from his Health Advocates: Life Options & Advocacy, LLC (Kat Mosier, Chris Courtney, Krissi Jenkins), along with the caring medical staff at Mountain View Hospital and additional nursing care from Alpha Nurses of Las Cruces.

No funeral service is planned. Cremation will take place with LaPaz Graham Funeral Home in Las Cruces. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a charitable donation to Cherished K-9 All Breed Rescue in Las Cruces, NM: Attn: Carla Baker @ http://www.cherishedk-9.com/
