Mr Joseph Patrick Sealy, 44, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at Magnolia Manor in Rock Hill after a long battle with ALS. He was born Aug. 26, 1968, in Chester. His family and friends will miss him very much.
The memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, with Dr. Robert D. Shrum officiating.
Surviving are his parents, Richard and Elaine Sealy of Rock Hill; his sisters, Melissa Church (Les) of Florence and Rachel Sealy Smith (Kent) of Rock Hill; his brother, Bob (Stefanie) of Florence; a brother-in-law, Kenny Morris of Union; his uncles, Wesley Roof (Shirley) of Chester, L.B. Sealy Jr. (Annie Mae) of Chester and Walter Sealy (Barbara) of Rock Hill; his aunts, “Cricket” Jones (Grady) of Chester, Kathleen Clayton (Earl) of Chester and Aunt Ethel Harris of Charlotte, with whom he had a very special bond; eight nieces; four nephews; and many cousins. His devoted and lovable dog, Sula, mourns with us, too.
Joe was employed by Robert E. Mason in Charlotte when he was diagnosed with ALS. His direct quote, “You couldn’t work for a nicer company,” echoes our feeling for all of them.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Sealy’s memory to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605; Oakland Baptist Church, 1067 Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29732; or the Humane Society of York County, 2036 Carolina Place, Fort Mill, SC 29708.
