JOSEPH EUGENE JOE SELEY
DEC 3, 1944 – MARCH 20, 2013

Joseph Eugene Seley, Sr., 68, died peacefully in his home surrounded by loving family after his battle with cancer. He passed on the first day of spring, with sunshine, flowers, and the songbirds he so loved to enjoy. Joe was born in Glendive, MT, to Jess and Lorrence Seley. He played basketball and was the FFA President at Knappa High School in OR where the family lived on a dairy farm.

Joe served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam.

After the Navy, while cruising and drag racing in downtown Vancouver, WA in 1967, Joe met the love of his life, Caroline “Carol” Lee Hill, they married and raised their four children.

Joe was active in his children’s lives – Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts leader, PTA (even starting a unit when the school didn’t have one), and many fishing and camping trips.

Joe and Carol were together 24/7; they operated their own business, Seley’s Yard Care, working side-by-side every day. When not working, Joe and Carol enjoyed building and crafting items, gardening and traveling with their dogs in their RV crabbing along the Oregon Coast.

Joe is survived by his children: Kathleen, Brenda, Jennifer and Joseph Jr. His greatest joy was to spend time with his eight grandchildren: Kath and Perry’s Dylan and Olivia, Brenda and Chris’ Elliott, Kyle and Hannah, Jennifer and Ken’s Kristina and Trevor, and Joe and Andrea’s Amelia. He is also survived by his four siblings: Lois, Gloria, Tom and Ron.

Carol preceded Joe in death, in 2008.

Joe’s memory is honored by his family and many friends.

A memorial will be held at Willamette National Cemetery and his family home.
