Jong Soon “Sandy” Seeley

 

Jong Soon “Sandy” (Kwak) Seeley, 65, of Emmett Township died Wednesday, July 19, 1995, as a result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

She was born June 15, 1930 in Seoul, Korea, to Bong Sun and Um Ssi Kwak.  She came to the United States in 1958 from Korea and received her naturalization papers in 1962 from Judge Creighton R. Coleman.

She was employed by the Battle Creek Public Schools Food Service and was assistant manager for three years.  She retired in 1992 after 20 years of service.

She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Korean Church and the Burnham Brook Center.

She enjoyed fishing, golfing, gardening and playing bridge.

She married Richard M. Seeley in April 1958 in Korea.  They renewed their vows at First Congregational Church in December 1958.  He survives.

Surviving are sons, Harley J. Seeley of Lansing and Terry R. Seeley of Marshall; a daughter Kim S. Seeley of Battle Creek; two grandchildren; and brothers, Chong Chul Kwak, Chong Kil Kwak and Chong Nam Kwak of Los Angeles, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation: After 2 p.m. Saturday at Farley-Estes Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Services: 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Se Bong Im officiating.

Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery.

Memorials: American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association or the Seventh Day Adventist Korean Church.
