Joan M. Seeley
Joan M. Seeley , 78, of the Diamond Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Troy, died Monday, February 8, 2016 at Diamond Hill. Joan was born in Schenectady to the late John and Frances Knicek Ravas, and was a lifelong area resident. She worked as a keypunch operator for the NYS Department of Tax and Finance for eight years, retiring in 1964. Joan was a member of the Scotia Glenville and Rotterdam Senior Citizens. She loved doing arts and grafts with her daughter and taking trips with her daughter to Vermont. Her dream trip was going to Alaska. Joan was predeceased by her husband, William F. Seeley who died in 2003; and a brother, Robert Ravas. She is survived by her daughter; Sandra M. Seeley; two nephews; caregiver and close companion, Karen Murphy of Waterford. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service which will be conducted Wednesday, February 10, at 12 p.m. at the Gleason Funeral Home. Calling hours from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. will precede the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Cyril’s Cemetery, Rotterdam. The family wishes to thank Community Hospice of Rensselaer, and the staff at Diamond Hill for the kind and compassionate care they provided.
