Hugh A. Seeley

SEELEY – Hugh A., husband of Josephine Seeley (Lustig), passed away on May 4, at 1992, at the age of 73 in the Pasqua Hospital.  Hugh is survived by his wife, Josephine; children, Joan and Brian (Lois); daughter-in-law, Glenna; and grandchildren: Catherine, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Jacqueline, Ryan, Scott, Doug and Beth.  He was predeceased by his son, Dave  (1991); infant daughter, Diane (1948); brothers, Currie (1982) and Joe (1991); son-in-law, Lawrence Mushka (1979).  Orphaned at the age of three, Hugh grew up in Lumsden and Regina where he attended Albert School and Balfour Tech.  During the Second World War, he joined the Royal Canadian Navy as an ordinary seaman until a serious wartime illness led to his discharge in 1941.  Later he joined Northern Telecom where he spent most of his working years.  Retirement took him to Arizona for the winter months.  His community activities included coaching Little League, leading Cubs and Scouts, chairing the Kitchener Home and School Association, and serving on the St. John’s United Church Board.  Hughie, as he was affectionately called, will be remembered as a great guy and a great sport enthusiast, especially when it came to the Saskatchewan Roughriders, his favorite team since the 1930’s.  But he will be best remembered and missed for the love he gave his family, his commitment to being fair and kind, and his sympathy for the disadvantaged in our society.  Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 6, 1992 at 11:00a.m. in Rosemont United Church, 5000-8th Avenue, Regina, with the Rev. Jeeva Sam officiating.  Flowers most gratefully declined; however, friends so wishing may make donations, in remembrance to the Regina Food Band.  Arrangements in care of Speers Funeral Chapel, Regina.
