FAIRMONT — Hubert J. Sealey, 53, of Fairmont, departed this life on Dec. 17, 2018, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

He was born on May 6, 1965, to the late Hubert and Beulah Sealey.

The services celebrating his blessed life and legacy will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. at Mill Branch Baptist Church in Fairmont. He will rest from his labor in Meadowbrook Cemetery.

He then transitioned to the state government, where he worked for 26 years beginning with the N.C. Department of Corrections, followed by the N.C. Department of Motor Vehicles, moving onto the N.C. During his time as county commissioner he served on various community and state boards.

Hubert was an active member of the community. He was a lifetime member of the Robeson County NAACP, a member of the United Robeson County Black Caucus, a member of Olive Branch Lodge No. 93, a Trustee at Mill Branch Baptist Church and former 4-H leader.

He is preceded in death by his parents Hubert and Beulah Sealey; two brothers, Ray Charles Sealey, and Richard C. Sealey; a sister, Cookie Sealey; his father-in-law, Andrew Richardson; and two favorite aunts, Lucy Edwards, and Bessie Jones.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories his wife of 28 years, Linda Richardson Sealey; four daughters, Kristen Yakira Sealey, Ashley Elaine Sealey, Selena Sheree Sealey, and Tasha Angel Sealey, all of Fairmont; three brothers, Fragal Jones of Lake View S.C., Willie Sealey (Ora Mae) of Lumberton, and Richard Sealey (Tina) of Buford, Ga.; four sisters, Brenda McDaniel (Donald) of Lake View, S.C., Katie Sealey of Fairmont, and Carolyn Roberts (Jeffrey) of Fairmont; a beloved mother-in-law, Alice Richardson of Lumberton; three sisters-in-law, Diahann Richardson (Brian) of Raleigh, Gwendolyn Curry (Cclanus) of Raleigh, Susan Maxwell (Johnathan) of Fayetteville; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
