Harry Seeley, 81, Northumberland, Victim of Fall

Harry Lee Seeley, of 455 Front Street, Northumberland, died this morning at 3:40 o’clock in Community Hospital from head injuries sustained in a fall Friday afternoon in front of his home.  A life long resident of Northumberland and retired D.L.&W. Railroad engineer, he was 81 years of age.

Mr. Seeley was rushed by the Americus ambulance to the hospital Friday afternoon at 5:30 o’clock following a fall in front of his home in which he struck his head.  Death was attributed to a fracture of the skull.

A life long resident of Northumberland he was born August 28, 1876, the son of the late Charles and Ellen Renner Seeley.  He was married to the former Bertha Smith.  They observed their 53rd wedding anniversary January 2.  A long time employe of the D.L.&W. Railroad, he retired in 1946.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Northumberland, Northumberland Lodge 897, Loyal Order of Moose, and Kingston Chapter Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.

He is survived by his wife, a brother, Charles Seeley, of York, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are in charge of R.L. Davis and Son Funeral Home, Northumberland, and will be announced Monday.

Harry Seeley Funeral Scheduled Wednesday

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m., from the R.L. Davis and son funeral home, King and Water Streets, for Harry L. Seeley, 81, who died Saturday morning at 3:40 o’clock in Community Hospital from head injuries sustained in a fall in front of his home.

Rev. Dr. Ira S. Sassaman, Shamokin Dam, retired Lutheran pastor, will officiate and burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home Tuesday evening.

The late Mr. Seeley was preceded in death by a brother, Myron S. Seeley who died July 1 of this year.
