Mrs. Harriet Seeley Killed In Auto Accident Monday; Services Are Held Today

Services for Mrs. Harriet (Hattie) L. Seeley, resident of a farm south of Ripley, N.Y., who was killed in an automobile accident Monday afternoon, were held today from the Marks Funeral Home, 65 S. Lake St.

The Rev. Ralph M. Metcalf, pastor of the South Ripley Methodist Church, officiated.  Burial was in the North East Cemetery.

Mrs. Seeley and her husband, Clyde, were driving to Erie to visit their daughter-in-law, Mrs. Donald Seeley, and newly born granddaughter in Hamot Hospital, when the fatal accident occurred.

Their car struck ice of Route 20, four miles west of North East, went into a spin, and was struck by a vehicle operated by William C. Robbins, of Mayville, N.Y.

Mr. Seeley and Robbins escaped injury in the crash which claimed Mrs. Seeley’s life.  Both Mr. and Mrs. Seeley were prominent members of their community.

Mrs. Seeley was the second member to die in a traffic accident within four years.  One of her sons was killed about four years ago in Sherman, N.Y.

Mrs. Seeley was a life-long resident of Chautauqua county, N.Y.  She was a member of South Ripley Methodist Church and Grange.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Donald A. Seeley, of R.D. 2, North East, and Wayne M. Seeley, of Buffalo; a daughter, Mrs. James Mann, of Ripley, N.Y.; two brothers, Harry and Glenn Thorpe, of R.D. 2, North East, and five grandchildren.
