Harriet D. (Poortenga) Seeley, 76, of Battle Creek, died Friday, Oct. 31, 1997, in Battle Creek Health System.
She was born Aug. 3, 1921, in Jamestown to Garrit and Clara (DeWeerd) Poortenga.
She was employed as a nurse by the Battle Creek Sanitarium Annex and Leila Hospital. She was then employed by H.B. Sherman Manufacturing Co., retiring in 1970 on disability.
She married George D. Seeley in September 1947. He survives.
Also surviving are sons, Larry E. and Gary C. Seeley of Battle Creek; and a brother, John Poortenga of Hudsonville.
Preceding her in death were brothers, Don Poortenga in 1996 and Henry Poortenga.
Community involvement/hobbies: enjoyed being a homemaker and gardening.
