George Seely Dies; Resident Here 83 Years

George B. Seely, 90, Santa Clara Valley resident for 83 years and a pioneer rancher and hay and grain dealer here, died yesterday in his home at 1215 S. First St.
Seely and his brother, the late Charles Seely, operated a hay and grain business for more than 30 years at 1645 S. First St. George Seely sold the business in 1939.
He operated the hay and dairy ranches before entering the feed business and was one of the founders of the Garden City Creamery.
Seely was born in Solano County. His father had first come to California in 1859, stayed 10 years, then returned to the East. He brought his family back to Santa Clara Valley in 1871.
The oldest member of the First Methodist Church at the time of his death, Seely was also a member of the Santa Clara Pioneer Society.
Surviving him are a son, Bert Seely of San Jose; two sisters, Mrs. Salina A. Hough of San Jose and Mrs. Lillian Graves of Los Angles, two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the John E. Dowdle Mortuary. Entombment will be in Oak Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum.
