George A. Seley Sr.

George A. Seley Sr., 87, died. He was born March 16, 1920, in Stockton, Calif.

Mr. Seley was a World War II Army veteran who served in the 101st Airborne. He moved to Detroit in 1952. He worked first as a draftsman and then became an architect. He was a member of the American Institute of Architects and was the director and associate of the architectural discipline of the Industrial Division of Smith, Hinchman and Grylls of Detroit, retiring in 1988 after 40 years of service. He was an avid bird watcher, artist, enjoyed carpentry and traveling. He spent 20 winters in Palm Springs, Calif.

He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia (Borroughs) Seley, and son, Bob; and siblings Gerald, James and William.

He is survived by wife T. Joyce Seley, children Mary (Rick) Siman, Patricia (Victor) Jusczakiewicz, Jane (Jim) Taras, George Jr. (Linda), Margaret Grasela, Michael, Kitty (Dan) Kromer, Theresa, Joseph, Clare, John, Ann (David) Cawthon; siblings Patricia Palmer, Barbara Meconitis; and 15 grandchildren.

Visitation, 4-8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile Road, Royal Oak; in-state 9:30 a.m. Saturday until a 10 a.m. Mass at the church; burial, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield; memorials, Capuchin Soup Kitchen, 1820 Mount Elliott, Detroit, MI 48207; Salvation Army Planned/Major Gifts Department, 16130 Northland Drive, Southfield, MI 48075.
