Edwin Everett Cilley

Edwin E. “Ed” Cilley, 92, a resident of Hampden for 58 years, died early Thursday evening, April 27, 2017 at Life Care of Wilbraham, with his loving family at his side. He was born and educated in Hill, NH, a son of the late John C. and Olive G. (Cilley) Cilley and was a graduate of Ashland High School. Ed was a veteran of WW II proudly serving with the United States Navy and was the recipient of several awards and citations. Ed was an active member of the Federated Community Church of Hampden and previously served on the property committee. Some of his favorite pastimes included working in his vegetable garden and his love of tinkering with anything and everything. He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of 63 years, Marion L. (Murdough) Cilley and leaves two loving sons, Paul A. Cilley and his wife Elizabeth of Belchertown, and Robert E. Cilley and his wife Mary Ann of Monson; two brothers, John Cilley of Ashland, NH, and Russell Cilley of Northfield, NH; 5 grandchildren, Craig, Kristen, David, Matthew and Christopher; 4 great-grandchildren, Chloe, Rowan, Evan and Brenden. He was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Cilley and his sisters, Gertrude Ackerman and Margaret Chellman. All services are private. The Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, in Springfield is honored to be handling his arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be directed to the Hampden Federated Community Church, 590 Main St., Hampden, MA 01036.
