Clifford LeRoy Seelye, 91 of Oakes, North Dakota formerly of rural Fort Ransom, North Dakota died on Friday, January 31, 2020 at CHI Oakes Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Cliff was born on February 1, 1928, the son of Walter and Lena (Adolfs) Seelye in rural Elliott, North Dakota. He attended country school and helped on the family farm. Cliff was united in marriage to Betty Fisk on December 27, 1952 in Webster, South Dakota. They made their home in rural Fort Ransom, where Cliff farmed and ranched. They moved to rural Guelph worked with various farmers and held other agricultural positions until his retirement. Cliff and Betty moved back to the Fort Ransom area and later moved to Oakes to be closer to family.
Cliff enjoyed fishing, hunting and attending auction sales. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Cliff is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Betty; his children, Rockie (Gail) Seelye; Janie (Curtis) Bendewald; John (Darcy) Seelye; Rod (Brenda) Seelye; Jessie Seelye; Robert Seelye; Jerry (Kim) Seelye; Rose (Lee) Hicks; Joe (Sue) Seelye; RaNora (Dane) Mueller; Jenny (Carl) Cuhel; Russell (Taunia) Seelye; 30 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one sister, Ethel Maack; numerous nieces and nephews.
Cliff was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Cody Seelye, great-grandson, Deaken Duane Larson; sisters, Marjie Belzer, Blanche Adolfs, Luella Potter and Ida Maack, brothers, Fred, Cal, Beryl, Melvin and Chester.
