Christine Smith Seeley

1952-2019

Christine Smith Seeley passed away peacefully on November 2, 2019 after a long battle with cancer. She was born August 23, 1952 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the fifth child of Willard Leroy Smith and Ruth Chipman Smith. She grew up in Salt Lake City and was a graduate of East High School and the University of Utah where she graduated Summa Cum Laud in Speech Pathology.

At 19, she began dating Grant Allen Seeley Jr., a young man from her neighborhood who’d recently returned from a mission for the LDS Church. The couple married 18 months later. In 1977, they moved to Houston where they raised seven children and made a home in Westbury.

Christine was a devoted mother. Every weekend, she filled her home with the smell of fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies made from scratch for her kids, their friends, and the many children she taught at her LDS church. She loved to learn, and studied at night to gain the skills to become a paralegal. She worked at a Galleria-area law firm for almost two decades.

Christine is survived by her husband of 46 years, Allen; her children, Nathan Seeley, Bart Seeley (Melanie), Matt Seeley (Amber), Andrew Seeley, Rachael Flores (Frank), Rebecca Parrish (Charles Allen), Michael Seeley (Janae); and eight grandchildren.

Her family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston for extending her life for so long and taking such good care of her.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on November 9, 2019 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 5531 Beechnut St., Houston, TX, 77096. Christine will be laid to rest at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Drive, Mill Creek, Utah on Thursday November 14, 2019 at 11:00am.
