PORTSMOUTH – Charles Steven “Steve” Sealey, 48, went to be with the Lord May 13, 2010. Steve was born in Dover, Del., the son of the late Charles M. Sealey and Delores Pendleton Sealey. Steve was predeceased by his father; his maternal grandfather, Jennings J. Pendleton; his paternal grandparents, Richard Roy Sealey and Leola Sealey Sawyer. Steve worked at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a nuclear pipefitter for 27 years. Steve is survived by his mother, Delores Pendleton Sealey; daughter, Jennifer Michelle Sealey and her mother Tina; son, Josiah Jeremiah Kamin Sealey and his mother Christi and her daughter Jenn; sister, Elizabeth Sealey Smith and her husband Kent; a nephew, Kent Jr.; grandmother, Aline J. Pendleton; and special childhood neighbor, Johnny Williams. Also surviving Steve are his many close and special aunts, uncles, cousins, his countless friends and co-workers, and his kitty, Cassanova. Steve loved and lived his life fully! Steve especially loved the Lord, his children, his family and his many, many friends. We will all miss him more than words can express. The family would like to send a special heartfelt thank you to all Steve’s caregivers who treated him with unconditional dedication and devotion during his courageous and incredible fight against cancer: Dr. Bruce Britton, Maryann Charlton and the staff at Portsmouth Family Practice, Dr. Patricia Thompson, Nancy Leony, Nick Allexson and all the staff at the Cancer Treatment Center of America-Chicago, Dr. Joseph Koen, Rachel and staff at Neurosurgical Specialists-Norfolk, his many family and friends, pastorial care, and the staff of Bon Secour Hospice. A funeral to celebrate Steve’s life will be held Monday, May 17, at 1 p.m. at Jackson Memorial Baptist Church, Chesapeake. Interment will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery Portsmouth. The family will receive friends at Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Steve’s family.
