EVERGREEN — Captain Carey Wayne Sealey, 71, of Evergreen, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017, at his residence with his family at his side.

Final rites will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Worthington Funeral Home with Rev. Clifton Jarvis and Rev. Tony Ward officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Worthington Funeral Home.

He was employed by Norfolk Dredging Company for 46 years as a dredge boat captain.

He was the son of the late Raymond Rice and Lorene Sealey and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Faye Cox Barnhill, and a brother, Jimmy McLamb.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 44 years, Ellenor Faye Coleman Sealey of the home; five children, Timothy Wayne Sealey of Lumberton, Karen Lorane Sealey of Cerro Gordo, Gina Lynn Sealey of Marion, S.C., Laura Lee Hebb of Canada and Ray Cox of Lumberton; a stepmother, Ina Rose Rice of Florida; siblings, Betty M. Smith of Chesapeake, Va., Ricky McLamb of Florida, Sandra M. McKee of Chesapeake, Va., Larry McLamb of Lumberton, Glenda Brust of Florida and Jennifer King of Florida; 23 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
