Betty Seelye
Betty Seelye, age 93, went to be with her heavenly Father on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the Poppen Residence. She was born on May 28, 1924 to Clare and Mercy (Briggs) Larabee in Muskegon. Betty will be remembered by being a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved listening to music, traveling with her kids, going out to dinner with her family, bingo, and especially shopping. On December 28, 1940 she married, Alva Leroy Seelye, and they spent 61 years together until his passing in 2002. She is survived by children, Ethel (Ken) Killebrew, Betty (Ron) Minzey, Barbara (Tom) Hoeker, Earl (Jane) Seelye, Roy (Ruth) Seelye, Ruth (Bud) Clark; 17 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 7 great great-grandchildren; brother, Don (Jan) Larabee; several nieces and nephews; and many close neighbors and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alva; children, Beverly Jean, Robert Leroy; sisters, Ethel McPheron, Claire Larabee, Ruth Tice; grandchild, Rachele Bogue; great-grandchildren, Jeremy Hoeker and Jessica Sidock. A VISITATION for Betty will take place on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100. A FUNERAL SERVICE will take place on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Port City Church (3387 Hts. Ravenna Rd.) with visitation an hour prior to service at church. Burial will take place in Egelston Township Cemetery. The family would like to express their utmost gratitude to the staff at the Poppen Residence for their excellent care of Betty during her time there. For a more lasting memory donations in Betty’s name can be made to the Harbor Hospice Foundation.
