Arthur Albert “Art” Sealey Jr.

MONTICELLO – Arthur Albert “Art” Sealey Jr., age 93 of Monticello, passed away Monday, June 13, 2016 at his home in Monticello. He was born January 13, 1923 in Drew, Miss. to the late Arthur Albert Sealey Sr. and Mabel Hart Sealey.

He attended Drew Central High School and was a part of the CCC during the Great Depression. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served aboard the USS Enterprise during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he relocated to Sacramento, CA where he worked as an electrician technician at McClellan Air Force Base. He was also the owner of Sealey News Agency and was an instructor of Electronics at American River College in Sacramento, Calif.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Whitmore Sealey. He, along with his wife Irene, were active members of the Veteran of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his wife, Irene Herring Sealey of Monticello; one son, Richard Sealey and wife Becky of Sacramento, Calif.; one great-granddaughter daughter, Anna Sealey of Sacramento, Calif.; one step-son, Phillip Herring of Maumelle; two step-daughters, Janice Herring Lane and husband Bill of Baton Rouge, La. and Gail Herring Hawkins and husband Fritz of Cabot; and one grandson, Bret Sealey and wife Sarah of San Diego, Calif. Additional survivors include five step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and his care giver, Jo Ann Keel.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel. Visitation from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery in Sacramento, Calif.

Arthur Albert “Art” Sealey Jr., age 93 of Monticello, Arkansas passed away Monday, June 13, 2016 at his home. He was born January 13, 1923 in Collins, Arkansas to the late Arthur Albert Sealey Sr. and Mabel Hart Sealey. He was a part of the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression until he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served aboard the USS Enterprise as an anti-aircraft gunner during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he relocated to Fair Oaks, CA where he worked as an aircraft instrument repair technician at McClellan Air Force Base and later owner of Sealey News Agency. He was also an electronics instructor at American River College. Art was preceded by his first wife, Jean Whitmore Sealey. Survivors include his wife, Irene Herring Sealey of Monticello, Arkansas and her family; one son, Richard and wife Becky of Carmichael; one grandson, Bret and wife Sarah of San Diego; and one great-granddaughter, Anna of West Sacramento. He will be interred next to Jean at Mount Vernon Memorial Park on July 1.
