Andrew F. Seelye

Andrew F. Seelye, age 90, of Marcellus, MI passed away September 14, 2013.

He was born on February 20, 1923 the son of John W. and Bertha (Raifsnider) Seelye. On April 12, 1947 in Marcellus, MI he married Theresa I. Wohlfert who survives.

He was a Sergeant in the 349th Infantry 88th Division in the United States Army, and served during WWII. As a Rifleman in the Army he served in combat in Italy as Leader of Infantry Rifle Squad. He directed about 12 riflemen in action against the enemy. He earned the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with Two Bronze Campaign Stars, Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart, American Theatre Ribbon and Good Conduct Ribbon. He formerly was a Truck Safety Engineer. He is a lifetime member of the Marcellus V.F.W. Post No. 4054. He was Past President of Michigan Trucking Association and former night Sergeant for the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.

Surviving besides his wife Theresa is one daughter, Linda (Randall) Blight of Livonia, MI; two sons, Allan (Barbara) Seelye and Donald (Patricia) Seelye both of Marcellus; one sister, Betty McClintic; seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Michael F. and two brothers, Donald and John Jr.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 P.M. Tuesday, September 17, 2013 in the Mater-Ralston Funeral Home, Marcellus with a Rosary at 7:30 P.M.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Marcellus, MI with Father Robert Consani Celebrant. Burial will follow in Marcellus Cemetery with Military Rites.

Memorials may be directed to the Marcellus V.F.W. Post No. 4054 or the Marcellus Fire and Ambulance Fund.
