SANTA FE, NM Alan Seeley, passed peacefully at his home April 7 following a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. Born 9/22/52 in Fairfield, Connecticut to Virginia and Joseph Seeley, he is survived by wife Elaine Woldorsky of 32 years, and brothers Robert and Kenneth Seeley. Alan, a graduate of Fairfield Prep, attended North Texas State University (music), and the University of Minnesota, graduating with a BA in Mathematics in 1986. He earned his MS in Financial Engineering from Columbia University in 2015. Alan’s career as an actuary began in 1986, and after working in Minnesota, California and New York, he became Chief Actuary, and Acting Deputy Superintendent for the New Mexico’s Office of the Superintendent of Insurance. His work included regulatory work as well as preparing new legislation concerning insurance regulation. Alan’s love of music was evident his whole life, even earning a living as a piano tuner prior to going to college. A talented musician, he played both piano and violin, and was a song writer, producing three CDs of original children’s songs on his Songs for Kids label. A celebration of Alan’s life is yet to be scheduled. In lieu of cards and flowers, people might remember Alan by making donations to Doctors Without Borders or the Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
