Mrs. Addie Elta Seeley

After an illness extending over a long period of years Mrs. Addie Elta Seeley, 71, a lifelong resident of Freeport, passed away at her home, 38 North Whistler avenue, at 3:30 o’clock this morning. Although Mrs. Seeley had been in ill health for many years she bore her suffering with a patience that few persons have. She was brave, in fact, cheery and it was always a pleasure to visit her as she never intruded her sufferings on those who came to see her and asked as little care as possible from those who were nearest her.

Addie Elta Mayer was born in Freeport, Nov. 1, 1863, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Esrom Mayer, early and prominent settlers of this vicinity. Mrs. Seeley had resided here all of her life and was known as a fine Christian woman, of a charitable and generous disposition and was beloved by a large circle of acquaintances and friends.

Besides her only son, Robert M. Seeley, she is survived by a grandson Bobbie, who was a source of much joy to her in her illness, and two sisters, Mrs. H.W. Hamilton and Mrs. Frederick Bowers, both residents of Freeport.

Funeral services will be held at the First Presbyterian church, of which she was a member, at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon. Dr. D. L. McNary will conduct the services and interment will be made at Oakland.

R.J. Stewart will have charge of funeral arrangements and the following will act as bearers, L.F. Jungkunz, R.C. Hunter, Max Antrim, D.L. Breed, David M. Burrell, Dr. Charles B. Zipf.
